Develop Your Musicianship With Artist-Led Instruction
Lessons supported by active performance and established teaching credentials
Embrace Your Music provides piano lessons for students across Seattle, Vashon Island, Bellevue, Kirkland, Port Orchard, and Tacoma, and internationally online.
Whether you're beginning your journey or refining advanced repertoire, my approach centers on your musical identity and goals. Led by me, Rachel Hug, each lesson draws from 18 years of teaching across private, group, and school program settings.
You'll work through a bespoke curriculum tailored to your pace and interests, with room to explore technique, theory, interpretation, and expression. Sessions are designed to meet you where you are, with adjustments made as your skills develop and your musical curiosity expands.
Embrace Your Music is grounded in the belief that pianists thrive when instruction reflects real artistry and responsive teaching. As a member of the Washington State Music Teachers Association and the Seattle Music Teachers Association, I bring insight from performances at venues including Columbia City Theater, The Sunset, The Vera Project, and touring throughout Mexico. My work as a touring artist informs how I approach each student's growth.

How Embracing Your Music Happens Here
Each lesson begins with a conversation about what you're working on and where you'd like to focus. You'll know what to expect from session to session, with clear goals outlined and progress tracked in ways that make sense for your pace. Instruction adapts as you move forward, whether that means shifting focus to repertoire, technique, or musicality.
For those balancing other commitments, online lessons or guided independent play offer the same depth without requiring travel. In-person sessions provide experience on a grand piano or synthesizers, and opportunities for performance. Both formats maintain a consistent structure so you always understand what comes next.
Students benefit from a teaching approach that values both discipline and exploration:
Technique development grounded in eighteen years of teaching across multiple instructional settings
Repertoire selection that reflects your musical interests and challenges your current abilities
Performance preparation informed by Rachel's experience on stages throughout the region and internationally
Collaborative coaching sessions that connect adult learners or young musicians with peers in the Seattle area and beyond

An Approach Rooted in Performance and Professional Practice
Embrace Your Music operates with the understanding that piano students deserve instruction from someone actively engaged in the art form. I bring firsthand knowledge of what it takes to prepare, perform, and grow as a musician. That experience shapes how lessons are structured and how feedback is delivered.
You'll work with a teacher who values accountability, careful listening, and steady encouragement. Every session is an opportunity to refine your craft, ask questions, and move closer to the musical goals you've set for yourself. The environment is inclusive, focused, and designed to support long-term development.
Connect with me to begin lessons that reflect both artistry and dependable instruction.
